On Friday night, September 11, a young man died in a motorcycle crash.
According to Lafayette Police, the accident happened at around 9.30 at night on the 2300 block of Kaliste Saloom Road. Wesley Ravenhill Aranza of Lafayette and aged 20, was driving a 2010 Honda motorcycle northbound on Kaliste Saloom Road when a 2008 BMW came out of a private drive and drove straight into him.
Aranza hit the side door on the driver’s side and was partially ejected from the motorcycle. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the BMW was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Lafayette Police closed the part of Kaliste Saloom Road where the accident happened for several hours as they carried out their investigation and so far it is believed no charges have been filed.
Wesley was the son of Pastor Jacob and Michelle Aranza of Our Saviors Church in Lafayette.
