On Saturday, July 25, a young bicyclist was killed on NW Frontage Road, Carenco.
According to police, the accident happened on Saturday night when a 63 year old woman was driving a 2008 Toyota Scion northbound on NW Frontage Road. She approached the intersection of NW Frontage Road and Butcher Switch Road in Carencro and hit 15 year old Juwuan Washingon who was riding his bicycle in the roadway.
Washington was taken to hospital but he later died. He was about to become a sophomore at Carencro high school and was returning from helping a friend to move. He was also a starting quarterback for the freshman football team last school year and was set to become a running back or wide receiver this year.
The crash remains under investigation by police and so far no citations have been issued.
