Early on Sunday morning, August 16, a single vehicle rollover crash left a Lafayette man dead.
According to Lafayette police, the accident happened around 3 a.m. in the 1200 Block of W. Bayou Parkway near the intersection of Doucet Road. A gray Toyota SUV, being driven by 29 year old Samuel B. Hudspeth was going north on W. Bayou Parkway when for reasons as yet unknown, Hudspeth lost control and the vehicle left the roadway and flipped over.
The passenger in the vehicle was ejected and taken to hospital in a critical condition and Hudspeth, who was also ejected, was taken to hospital where shortly afterwards he was pronounced dead.
The police said that the crash is still under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department Traffic Unit and there is no further information as to the current condition of the passenger, nor has the name been released.
