High Speed Chase Leads to Three Vehicle Wreck

On Sunday, December 13, a high speed chase in St. Martin and Lafayette parishes ended in a three vehicle wreck in Lafayette.

According to State Police, at around 10 a.m. on Sunday, a trooper tried to pull over Louis Morman on La. 94 near the border of St. Martin and Lafayette. However, Morman did not stop and he sped off toward Lafayette and the troopers pursued him in a high speed chase. Around a mile further on, Morman ran a red light at West Pinhook Road and Carmel Drive. That caused a three vehicle collision involving Morman, the trooper and two other vehicles.

Following the collision, Morman tried to escape the scene but a trooper used a stun gun and arrested him.

Four people were injured in the accident and were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.

Morman was booked on counts of DWI, possession of marijuana, vehicular negligent injuring and two fugitive warrants.
