Fatal Crash in Lafayette

On Sunday night, April 10, there was a fatal crash in Lafayatte.

According to police the incident took place at around 9 p.m. on Rayne Lane.

A Ford F150 truck, being driven east by a female on American Legion Drive in Rayne was heading in the same direction as a man riding a lawn mower. However, the lawn mower had another person on the hood and in addition was towing someone in a wheelchair. For reasons as yet unknown, the Ford truck hit the lawn mower.

The truck driver was uninjured but the driver of the lawnmower, 41 year old Wilbert J. Bourque Jr. was killed in the crash. The person on the hood of the lawnmower and the person in the wheelchair were both taken to area hospitals where they are both said to be in a stable condition.

The accident in still under investigation and at this time no charges have been filed.
