Early on Monday morning, November 22 a good Samaritan from Lafayette was killed in a crash on Interstate 10 near Henderson.
According to State Police, the accident happened at around 1.27 a.m. on the I 10 westbound. A woman from Jacksonville, Florida was driving a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan and towing a U-Haul trailer when she drove over an overpass and then the trailer became detached. The trailer then came to a stop in the outside westbound lane and 25 year old Vineeth Keesara of Lafayette saw the trailer and stopped his vehicle to help the woman take it off the roadway.
However, while they were trying to move it, a 1989 Peterbilt tractor-trailer swerved to try and avoid them and hit the trailer and the woman’s car along with Keesara and the woman.
Keesara was killed in the accident and the woman was injured.
The driver of the truck, an 81 year old man from Woodville, Mississipi who was uninjured, was found not to be under the influence and the investigation is ongoing.
