In the middle of Friday afternoon, June 10, a man died following a motorcycle crash with an 18 wheeler.
According to Breaux Bridge police, the accident happened about 3.30 p.m. in the 900 block of South Poydras Street, just north of the city limits. It appears that the crash occurred when the unnamed motorcyclist, for unknown reasons, crossed over into the northbound lane and was hit by the 18-wheeler.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the 18 wheeler was uninjured.
According to police the accident is still under investigation but at this time they do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Police have not yet released the name of the victim pending identification and notification of the next of kin.
