Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash with 18 Wheeler

In the middle of Friday afternoon, June 10, a man died following a motorcycle crash with an 18 wheeler.

According to Breaux Bridge police, the accident happened about 3.30 p.m. in the 900 block of South Poydras Street, just north of the city limits. It appears that the crash occurred when the unnamed motorcyclist, for unknown reasons, crossed over into the northbound lane and was hit by the 18-wheeler.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the 18 wheeler was uninjured.

According to police the accident is still under investigation but at this time they do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim pending identification and notification of the next of kin.

Motorcycle Accident Leads to Death of Man

On Thursday, May 12, a motorcycle accident led to the death of a man in Lafayette.

According to Lafayette Police the accident happened at around 2.15 p.m. when 34 year old Tucker Huval of Breaux Bridge was travelling westbound on Willow Street. A red Ford car driving eastbound then made a left turn onto Staten Street directly into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle crashed into the car and Huval was ejected.

Huval was pronounced dead at the scene and the unnamed driver and passenger in the car were transported to the local hospital with minor injuries.

Willow Street was closed between Cora and University, as the crash was investigated.

That investigation is still ongoing and so far no citations have been issued.

Huval leaves behind a spouse, Jessica and five children.

Young Man Died in Motorcycle Crash

On Friday night, September 11, a young man died in a motorcycle crash.

According to Lafayette Police, the accident happened at around 9.30 at night on the 2300 block of Kaliste Saloom Road. Wesley Ravenhill Aranza of Lafayette and aged 20, was driving a 2010 Honda motorcycle northbound on Kaliste Saloom Road when a 2008 BMW came out of a private drive and drove straight into him.

Aranza hit the side door on the driver’s side and was partially ejected from the motorcycle. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the BMW was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Lafayette Police closed the part of Kaliste Saloom Road where the accident happened for several hours as they carried out their investigation and so far it is believed no charges have been filed.
